The slope, m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

= (-2-(-4))/(8-4)

= 2 / 4

= 1/2

 

Now, let's find b, the y-intercept. Use one of the points. I will use point B.

-2 = (1/2)*8 + b

-2 = 4+b

b = -6

So the equation of the line q is

y = (1/2)x - 6
