find g(a+1) when g(x) =1/3x-4

the 1/3 is a fraction

Kenneth S.

so does this mean that g(x) = (1/3)x - 4?  The other possibility is that the denominator is (3x-4)

Liz, please use parentheses.  Without parentheses, this problem could be interpreted as:

g(x) = (1/3)x - 4
g(x) = 1/(3x) - 4
g(x) = 1/(3x - 4)

I am sure you want the tutor to give a correct solution to the correct problem as opposed to correct solutions to other problems.
