The nightly fee at the Surfside Motel is $120 plus a $40 parking fee that covers parking for your entire stay. The Tropical Winds Motel charges $140 per night with no parking fee. Write the cost y to stay for x nights for each motel. Write each equation in slope-intercept form. Assume that you need parking.

 Surfside:  y = 120X + 40

 

 Tropical Winds: y = 140X

 

 

Though not asked in the problem, they are the same after two nights.

So if your stay if 3 nights or longer, Surfside is cheaper.  Otherwise stay at Tropical Winds.
