add y2/7 to both sides
y2/7 + 1 = x2/4
subtract 1 from both sides
y2/7 = x2/4 - 1
y2/7 = (x2-4)/4
Multiply both sides by 7
y2 = (7x2 - 28)/4
Take square root of both sides
y = ±√[(7x2-28)/4]
y = ±√(7x2-28)/2
