Use trigonometric identities to transform the left side of the equation into the right side.

sin^2x-cos^2x=2sin^2x-1
 
(tanx+cotx)/tanx=csc^2x

there are three forms of cos 2x:
 = cos2x - sin2x  and then, based on Pythagorean identity sin2x + cos2x = 1, there are two alternative forms:
  = 1 - 2 sin2
  = 2cos2x -1.
