Find length and breadth of rectangle when area is given

In the centre of a rectangular lawn of dimension 50mx40m, a rectangular pond has to be constructed so that the area of the grass surrounding the pond would be 1184 square mtr. Find the length and breadth of the pond.

Area of lawn: 50 * 40 = 2,000 sq. m.

 

2,000 - 1,184 = 816 which is the area of the pond.

 

Divide the area by any length to get the width. f\For example

 

816 / 22 = 37.1

816 / 27 = 30.3
