snail 1 travels at a constant rate of.0001 MPH, snail 2 travels half of the remaining distance to the finish line each hour.  Which snail wins?  Justify using properties of exponential functions

Snail 1 will win

As snail 1 has a steady speed of 0.0001MPH

Where as snail 2 covers half of remaining distance in each hour.

 

If we use Distance remaining (d) to total distance relation (D)

 

d = D e^ -kt

 

d =0 only when t = infinite
