Like terms have the same variable (a or b) or they are constants (8 or -1). So, all the "a" terms are 6a, 2a, and -4a. Add all of these "a" terms together: 6a + 2a - 4a = 8a - 4a = 4a.
All of the "b" terms are 3b, 6b, and b. Add all of these like terms together. What do you get?
Now add the constant terms (8 and -1) together: 8 - 1 = 7.
So, the answer is 4a + (whatever you got when you added the "b" terms together) + 7.
