What is 3x to the power of 0 times y?

Well, first you have to think about what it means when something is raised to the power of 0. Basically nothing happens, and all you get is 1. No matter what is raised to the power of 0, it will always be 1. 
 
So then that makes (3x)0 (y)= (1)(y)= y.

Thanks so much! I knew that anything raised to the 0 power is 1 but i wasnt sure what to do when parenthesis are there.

x0 equals 1 EXCEPT for the proviso that x must not also be 0; 00 is undefined.  This restriction must not be omitted.
