How to write a fraction using a table?

Lets say I have this table, 

 

X         y
2        10

4         6

6         2

8        12

Would the x-values or the y-values be the numerator/denominator? For example,

 

2/10 or 10/2?

x   y      y  x

If you take y/x, then you are calculating the slope of the line from the origin to each of these points.  This would be the most meaningful answer.  You can remember that as rise over run.  y is graphed as the vertical axis and x is graphed as the horizontal axis.  That said, your question doesn't provide any context for what you are trying to calculate or why.
