What's the largest volume/dimensions of given triangular prism?

What are the dimensions of the biggest possible volume (absolute maximum) of a triangular prism given the length and girth must equal 108 inches?

Thanks! I struggle with optimization to such a high degree.

So how would you get only one variable? Sorry, when it comes to optimization I'm lost. I usually understand math so easily but I have a really hard time with this topic. Would you mind explaining the steps with a little more detail? I hate to ask that. Not like give me all the answers but just a few more descriptions on how to do such steps?
