Let L = the length of the rectangle
Let W = the width of the rectangle
The formula of the perimeter of a rectangle is 2L + 2W
The formula for the area of a rectangle is L*W
We are told W = x+7
We are told L = 4x
We are told the perimeter = 44
Therefore:
2L+2W = 44
2(4x) + 2(x+7) = 44
8x + 2x + 14 = 44
10x + 14 = 44
10x = 44 - 14
10x = 30
x = 3
Since x = 3, we know W = x + 7 = 10 and L = 4x = 12
Now we can calculate the area which is W * L = 10 * 12 = 120.

Hi Neessam.
Width of a rectangle = (x+7)inch, Length= 4x inch
Perimeter of a rectangle = 2( Length+Width)
44 = 2(4x+x+7)
44 = 2(5x+7)
44 = 10x +14
30 = 10x
3=x
Width of a rectangle = x+7= 3+7=10 inch
Length of a rectangle = 4x= 4(3) =12 inch
Area of a rectangle= Length* Width= 12 *10= 120 sq Inch.
