use the point-slope formula: y - y1 = m ( x - x1) slope = m = 1/2 point ( x1, y1)= ( 1, 2 )
x1 = 1 , y1 = 2
Substituting, y - y1 = m ( x - x1 )
y - 2 = 1/2 ( x - 1)
y - 2 = (1/2)x - 1/2
Adding 2 to both sides, y - 2 + 2 = (1/2)x - 1/2 + 2
y = (1/2)x - (1/2) + (4/2)
y = (1/2)x + 3/2
