Any fraction can be added to any other fraction as long as the denominators are the same.  So for this question that would be 2/3 and 4/3, which adds to 6/3 = 2, or 2/2 + 1/2 = 3/2.

 

That said, any of these fractions can be transformed to have common denominators with another fraction for addition.  For instance, you can add 2/3 + 2/2 if you change the denominators into the least common multiple of the denominators (2 and 3).  

 

2/3 + 2/2 = 3/6 + 6/6 = 9/6 = 3/2

With common denominators, you may add the numerators to produce the sum.

 

So you can quickly see which ones have the same denominator, here is the list sorted by denominator:

Putting fractions together in a list simply makes it harder to find matches.  Sorting them makes it much easier!

 

Note that the sums produce improper fractions (like 3/2) that you may wish to convert to mixed numbers (like 1 1/2)
