N = tickets sold with no card

 

15C + 20N = 5345     total money made is 5345

C + N = 320              total tickets sold is 320

 

From 2nd equation  C = 320-N

Substitute that into first equation to solve for N

 

15(320-N) + 20N = 5345

4800-15N+20N = 5345

5N + 4800 = 5345

5N = 5345-4800

5N = 545

N = 545/5

N = 109  tickets sold without ASB card

 

C = 320-N = 211 tickets sold with ASB card

 

Check answer:

15C+20N=5345

15(211)+20(109)=5345

3165+2180 = 5345

5345 = 5345
