A crew of workers clears tress from 1/2 acre of land in 3 days. How long will it take the same crew to clear the entire plot of 2 3/4 acres?

If the workers clear 1/2 acre in 3 days, then:

 

they can clear 1/2 ÷ 3 = 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6 acres in 1 day

 

Let x = the number of days to clear the entire plot

 

1/6 x = 2 3/4

 

1/6 x = 11/4

 

x = 6 * (11/4) = 66/4 = 33/2 = 16 1/2 days
