x + (x + 26) = 60 (the total number of games played)

2x+ 26 = 60

2x = 34

x = 17

 

The team lost 17 games and won x + 26 = 17 + 26 = 43 games.

 

Their overall record was 43-17 (which is pretty good in any sport)
