To find the derivative, take the exponent and multiply it by the coefficient and use this product as the new coefficient: 

 

f(x) = ax^c

f'(x) = ac(x)^c-1 

 

f(x) = 3x²

f'(x) = (3•2)x^2-1

f'(x) = 6x
