A proportional relationship includes two or more quantities which change if the other changes. A real-world problem could be something as common as a trip to the grocery store.
If one candy bar costs $2, how many candy bars could be bought with $8?
This can be expressed as the linear function y = 2x.
A person could confidently say "four candy bars" because the price of candy is explicitly dependent on the number of bars purchased.
