But there is an x in the numerator that cancels the factored x in the denominator, so only x=5 is where you divide by zero.

X=0 will get you a value of 0 in the denominator

If you simplify the function first, there is no restriction on x = 0.

The graph of the function G(x) = x/(x2-5x) has a "hole" at the point     (0, -1/5) while the point (0, -1/5) is a point on the graph of                y = 1/(x-5).
 
The graph of G(x) is not the same as the graph of y = 1/(x-5).
