whats the greatest common factor of 2x^2-10x

I don't really understand this question

Norbert W.

Is this the complete question?  Common factors usually require at least 2 expressions, the common factor being part of each expression.

Arturo O.

2x^2 - 10x = 2 (x^2 - 5x) = 2x (x - 5)

So the expression has factors 2, x, and x - 5.  Now we need the other expression so we can factor it, and then compare factors between the 2 expressions.
