If you have xdimes, multiply the above fact by x (in your problem x=6) and write down the value of x dimes.

If you have y nickels, multiply the above fact by y (in your problem y=3) and write down the value of y nickels.

 

Now you can add up the values that are requested.  It's just common sense.
