can you show how these equations of logistic curve method are derived?

In population forecasting, logistic curve method is used in long term estimates. Can you show me how the formula for saturated population, the constants a and b are derived?

Thank you Alan for your response. Nevermind 'a' and 'b'. Well in my class the M is the saturated population, its equation is Psat = (2PoP1P2 -P1^2(Po + P2))/ PoP2 -P1^2
where Po is the base population
P1 and P2 is the population at two time intervals

I juat want to know how they derived this equation.
