^{2}x)/(cos

^{2}x) = [cos

^{2}x - sin

^{2}x]/cos

^{2}x = [cos 2x]/cos

^{2}x is a posibly 'simplified' version in that it has been boiled down to only cosines.

Mark, as Kenneth says, it seems your simplification rules are not properly defined and it would be valuable to contribute them to the conversation for my learning and others. Do you have any generally accepted authority beyond your subjective personal experience?03/18/21
