(B)  2(4)-8/3+8 = 8 - 8/3 + 8 = 16 - 8/3 = [3(16) - 8] / 3 = 40/3

 

(C)  -4(3)^2-5(2)^2 = -4(9) - 5(4) = -36 - 20 = -56

 

(D)  3(-5-3)+4(7-9)/5(-2)+3(-4) = 3(-8) + 4(-2)/[5(-2)] - 12 = -24 + 4/5 - 12 = -36 + 4/5 = [5(-36) + 4] / 5 = -176/5
