Question

a swimming pool is holding 5300 gallons of water in it. a system is set up to increase the pool water by 16% per hour. how fast is the pool filing up when it has 18300 gallons in it

Strange problem! Is this an exponential growth problem (growth is 16% of current, instantaneous, volume)?

 

It's not realistic to have the rate of filling get higher & higher as the pool gets more full of water, plus, most problems would involve a maximum volume so that the darned thing can be shut off and not flood the neighborhood.
