Mike dumped 11 lbs. Of a bag of apples with 44% red apples, into a bag of 5 lbs. which contained 38% red apples. What is the new percent of red apples?

Please provide steps to solve the problem. Thanks.

44%(11) = 4.84
38%(5) = 1.9
 
There are now 6.74 pounds of red apples in the 16 pound bag.
 
6.74 / 16 = 0.42125, or 42.125%
