1/2x+1 a perpendicular or parrallel line?

if you need to graph  y=.5x+1,  how will you know if its parallel or perpendicular?

The equation is in the format of...

y=mx+b

m=slope

b=y-intercept, the value of y when x=0.

Anything of identical slope, yet different value of b, is parallel.

Anything of slope -1/m, is perpendicular, value of b is a non-issue.

y=(1/2)x+1

Parallel...m=1/2, b≠1

Perpendicular...m=-2
