First, you have to square the binomial (y+1). Do you know how to do it, efficiently? You'll get a trinomial: y squared, then +2(1)y, the middle term, and finally 1 (1 squared). You should not have to do that by FOILING (y+1)(y+1) because all Algebra students need to memorize the procedure for squaring a binomial in order to be efficient and to grow the skills.
In short, this first job gives y2 +2y + 1.
Similarly by squaring the other two binomials you get:
y2 +4y + 4 and
y2 +6y + 9.
Now it's just a matter of COMBINING LIKE TERMS, which I leave for you to do.
