B bought a number of bags in a store where a 5% sales tax is added to every purchase. If she did not have to pay tax, she could have bought 4 more bags for the same amount of money. How many bags did she buy?

x = number of bag purchased

p = price per bag

 

xp(1.05) = xp + 4p

 

We can simplify this to 

 

x(1.05) = x+4

1.05x = x+4

.05x = 4

x = 80
