suppose test scores for a test are iniformly distributed between 53 and 83. Let X= tests scores. what is the probability a test score is at least 59 and no more then 68?

Answer 1

If we assume a continuous distribution the pdf = 1/30 for  53 ≤ x ≤ 83 and =0 elsewhere.

 

Then integrate from 59 to 68.

 

If we assume a discrete distribution then P(x) = 1/31 for each x and the answer is Σ P(x) for 59 ≤ x ≤ 68 .
