Queen Elizabeth was the time period during which Hariot, explorer, map-maker, world-wide navigator and adventurer, a contemporary of Sir Francis Drake. He lived in the 17th century. He depicted people and objects with objectivity, rationality, without any appearance of emotional bias, prejudging attitudes of racism, misinformation or coloring, characteristics of the Enlightenment concept of rational, unbiased, scientific observation. The depictions of the Native Americans, the people who lived in the USA and South America and Haiti/Dominican island, or Latin America landscapes did have and preconceived political, social, or coloring of racism because Harriot was a scientist, so he had no thoughts of caste system, racist values involved in depicting one tribe as inferior to the European citizen. Columbus did not depict natives objectively. The Zeitgeist was biased because the white man owned the racist bias that he was the master; the darker race was his property.

asked 01/27/16In what notable respects do Hariot's attitudes differ from those of Columbus?
Do his discussions of the native people seem to proceed from a more objective interest than that of columbus in the people and their customs?
