y+9=-5/9(x-3)
The Slope-Intercept form of the equation of a line looks like: y=mx + b
y+9=-5/9(x-3)
y+9=(-5/9)x - (-5/9)(3) [distribute -5/9]
y+9=(-5/9)x + (5/3)
y = (-5/9)x + (5/3) - 9 [subtract 9 from both sides]
y = (-5/9)x + (5/3) - (27/3)
y = (-5/9)x - (22/3)

When you distribute why does it not distribute out to: y+9=(5/9x) (-15/9)

-(5/9)(x-3) (remember that we started with -5/9)
-(5/9)x + (5/9)(3) (there is -5/9 and -3, making +)
-(5/9)x + (15/9)
-(5/9)x + (5/3)
When you move the 9 from the left side (subtract 9 from both sides, that is -9 or -27/3.
