Which is total surface area of the figure?

It sounds like you have a cube
with dimensions length, width, height = 27, 6, 18
L = 27
W = 6
H = 18
 
The total surface area is the sum of the
surface area of the 6 sides of the cube
(or 4 sides + top + bottom)
 
We have 2 sides 27x18 = 2(27*18) = 972 units2
We have 2 sides 6x18   = 2(6*18)  = 216 units2
We have 2 sides 27x6   = 2(27*6)  = 324 units2
 
Sum = 972 + 216 + 324 = 1512 units2

I saw no reason to throw large terms at the student.  I would rather simply show how the problem is worked. Was there a ptoblem with the math or final answer?
