The diameters AB and CD perpendicular to each other. If the length of the arc ADB is 22cm. Find the radius of the circle.

With two perpendicular diameters AB and CD...
the arc ADB is a semicircle... or 1/2 the circumference
 
(1/2)[2(pi)r]= 22
pi(r) = 22
r = 22/pi cm
 
Area = pi(r2)
= pi(22/pi)2
= 222/pi
= 484/pi
 
The area is approximately 154.062 cm2

Andrew stated: "r = 22/pi cm"    This is a case where pi=22/7 is a convenient estimate, so r=7 cm.
