In an " Arts and Crafts Function" a conical structure with four open doors was built. The slanting height and the base diameter of the conical structure was 22m and 28m respectively. If the area of each door was 6m2, find how many meters of tarpaulin were needed to cover the structure,the width of tarpaulin being 8m.

Surface area of a cone is πr² + πrl

 

So the surface area of this cone is

 

π14² + π14*22 =

196π + 308π =

504π

 

However, there are four doors of 6m² each or 24m²

504 - 24 = 480m² 

 

If the width of the tarpaulin is 8m, you need 480/8m or 60m of tarpaulin.
