P= V ((R1R2)/((R1+R2)^2))

 the 1s and 2s are as in base one and base 2 and it must be solved for R1 where it is a maximizer

  Your notation and note are  somewhat ambiguous.
  Do you mean that "R1" indicates that this instance of R is in base 1 and similarly that  "R2" indicates that this instance of R is in base 2 ?
  Please elaborate.
