Hi Jeanette,
Create two columns, one for X and one for Y.
Then pretend that you are graphing y = 12x - 1 and randomly choose some x's and figure out the y's that go with them.
So if x = 0 then y = -1 . . . 12 times zero is zero. Zero minus one is -1.
If x =1, then y = 11
If x = -1, then y = -13
Try 2 and -2 yourself.
Then place the line on the graph by plotting the x,y points.
Then draw a dashed line because the question says y < 12x - 1 and not y is less than and equal to 12x - 1.
Since y is less than the values on the right side of the inequality, then if X = 0, then y can equal -2, -3, -4 . . .
and if x = 1, then y can equal 10, 9, 8 . . .
So fill in the area on the side of the line that includes those possibilities.
