fifth graders at jackson elementary like to do different things at recess. in order to keep everyone safe, the teachers have designated 1/5 of the playground for students who want to sit and read or talk. 2/3 of the remaining part of the playground will be for students wanting to play soccer. the res of the playground will be used for other various activities. what fraction of the whole playground is designated for soccer?

You could also draw a grid to visualize this. It may be helpful. Start with 15 boxes in your grid. 3 of them will be for talking. That leaves 12. 2/3(12)=8 so 8 of the remaining are for soccer. Therefore 8/15 are for soccer.
