Reference: "In a Geometric Sequence each term is found by multiplying the previous term by a constant."
The Sequence of numbers given in the problem has a Rule that describes them:
Each number is found by multiplying the previous number by (-1/4), or you could say:
Each number is found by dividing the previous number by (-4).
So, the next number after (-16) is (-16)/(-4) = 4
And, the number before that is: (4)/(-1) = -1
p.s., The rule must hold true for all adjacent pairs in the Sequence.

To go from one number to the next, multiply by (-1/4). For other sequences, the constant of proportionality might not be (-1/4), it could be some other constant.

I don't really get it so we always divide by 4?11/09/20
