Distributive Property allows you to write the expression or equation with the numbers distributed to each number or term (5x, x, y are a few examples of a term). This only applies to addition and multiplication. Because this is multiplication, my suggestion would be to think use one of the numbers and think of two numbers that sum up to that number. For example, 1+4 = 5. If I were to say (1+4)x189 would distribute to 189 + 756 = 945 => 189 x 5 = 945. Same answer, different expressions. Or, you could also say 5 X (180 + 9) in which would distribute to 900 + 45 = 945. The idea is to multiply the numbers on the inside one at a time to the outside. 5*180 + 5 * 9 = 5 * (180 + 9).
