This problem teaches how to convert units.
 
The important principle to remember is that anything multiplied by 1 results in itself.  Thus, if we multiply by (1 week / 7 days ), the result will be the same.
 
   (6 inches / week ) * ( 1 week / 7 days )  = (6 inches / 7 days )
 
O,K., now, how much growth in 24 days?
 
    (24 days) * (6 inches / 7 days) ≈ 20.6 inches

There could be several approaches to this problem, so let me suggest some ways to think about this. Hopefully, you can then take my suggestions & solve the problem in whichever way you think is best for your circumstance.

 

If a week is 7 days, then the grass grows 6 inches every 7 days. You could divide 6 inches by 7 days to find the amount of daily growth, then multiply by 24 to find the amount of growth in 24 days.

 

Another approach involves looking only at the weekly growth. This might save some calculation, but you would still have to calculate a partial week's growth. If 24 days is 3 weeks plus 3 days - or 3 & 3/7 weeks - multiply 3 by 6, then multiply 3/7 by 6, and add both results.

 

Perhaps an easier way of doing the same thing would be to think of 24 days as 24/7 weeks. You would then multiply 6 by 24 & divide the result by 7.
