the perimeter of a rectangular window is 28 feet. the width of the window is 4 feet more than the length. what are the dimensions of the window?

how do you find the dimensions with out knowing anything but the perimeter ?

Tutors have answered: (1) it is a rectangle, (2) the perimeter is the distance around it [L+W+L+W] which is given as 28 ft., and (3) the problem gives a relationship between the width and the length [4 ft. more].
Only item (2) gives the perimeter; items (1) and (3) lets us know more than just the perimeter.  With all of these clues, a good detective could tell us much more about the window than just the dimensions.

Actually the answer is three in a different scenario The correct answer is: P = 2 x l + 2 x h 18 = 2 x 6 + 2 x h 6 = 2 x h h = 3 ft So the length is 3 feet
