a) arithmetic mean

(4+100)/2=104/2=52

 

b) geometric mean

√4*100=√400=20

 

c) harmonic mean

2/[(1/4)+(1/100)]=2/[(25/100)+(1/100)]=2/(26/100)=200/26=100/13

a simpler way to find the harmonic mean is...

1. Arithmetic Mean of a and b = (a+b)/2

2. Geometric Mean of a and b = √(a* b)

3. Harmonic mean of a and b = 2/( 1/a + 1/b)

 

Here,

a=4  , b=100

 

Arithmetic mean  = (4+100)/2

                          =52

 

Geometric mean  =√(4*100) 

                          =√400

                          = 20

 

Harmonic mean  =2 /( 1/4 + 1/100)

                         =2 / (25/100 + 1/100)

                         =2 / (26/100)

                         =(2*100)/26

                         =200/26

                         =100/13
