The store is keeping track of the customers who enter a certain department and whether or not they make a purchase. The results are shown:

What is the approximate probability that a customer from this group made a purchase?

 

 

A) 0.44

B) 0.56

Probability is the ratio of successful events to total number of events.  In this problem there are (7+4) people who made a purchase and there are (7+4+5+9) total people who entered the department.  So, P = 11/25      (P= 44%)
