You have to specify a specific polynomial. There are a few formulas and techniques for specific cubic polynomials.
You can try guessing a root and then use polynomial long division/synthetic division to see if it divides evenly into the polynomial. If the remainder is 0, then you've found a root and what's left is a quadratic.
If you go to Mathworld, I believe they have the formulas that will give you all of the roots for an arbitrary cubic polynomial but they're so unruly that no one really uses them. I never even learned them in school.
