How to write " the quotient of a number and seven is six" as an algebraic equation

My math teacher assigned this for homework but I do not understand how to add the quotient part to x+7=6

When we have a quotient, this indicates division.  Since you already shown you equation, just replace the plus sign with a slash.

 

We use a slash to represent division in algebra, rather than the ÷ sign.

quotient of a number and seven         is         6

                n / 7                                =         6
