The base of a triangular sail is 12 m shorter than its height. The area is 110m. Find the base and height of the sail.

Once you get the quadratic of
h2-12h-220 = 0
Look for the factors of -220 that add to -12 to factor the polynomial
That would be (-22)(10) so the polynomial factors to
(h-22)(h+10)=0
So h = 22m or h = -10m
We can discard the -10m since the height will be a positive number so the height is 22m
The base is 22-12 = 10m
