Where can students take the Calculus 3 test?

Where can students take the Calculus 3 test to get college credits without taking the class? If you can't get college credits that way, then can someone just take the test and let them give you the score and paper says that you understand the course material for that subject? If you need to pay for this test, how much will they charge you? Consider someone who lives in Los Angeles.

Hi Sun.

Unfortunately, there is no way to take a test to receive credit for Calc 3. The common AP level calculus tests can be taken without taking the course as you can register for them separately through your high school or through college board. However, the AP level calculus is equivalent to introductory level calculus in college (Calc 1 or 2).

If you are already in college, you might want to talk to someone in the math department to see if they can administer a department test for you. Even then I would think that they will allow you to "jump" to the next level of mathematics and not simply give you credit for Calc 3. Still, nothing is set in stone and each college has its own policy with such matters. The best advice is to simply ask!

Hello Sun. You can take Calculus III for credit with several Universities. If you have the required knowledge that will allow you to pass the class then you might wish to consider: The University of North Dakota has been regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1913. So you need not be concerned that your credits are useless at other educationally accredited schools in the US. The class is 4 credits at a cost of $247.40 per credit no other fees included.

The second college is Central Texas College. Central Texas College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees and certificates of completion and approved by Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Texas Education Agency. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of Central Texas College. Central Texas College teaches Calculus III online during summer (10-week semesters). Non-resident tuition costs are $130 per credit hour, totaling $520 for the 4 credit-hour class.

Good luck.
