First simplify the left side:
(1/4)-2x = [(1/4)-2 ]x
Look at the term inside the brackets:
(1/4)-2 = 1/ (1/4)2 = 1 / (1/16) = 16
So the left side is 16x. But 16 is the same as 24 so the left side can be written as 24x
The right side is 64, which is 26
So the equation can be written as 24x = 26
From this you can see that 4x = 6, so x = 6/4 = 3/2.
